Great Wood Grove

Great Wood Grove will follow a twofold process using stone masonry along with traditional and interpretative half-timbered structures. This will act as a foundation for ivy. The project aim was to combine traditional materials and form with contemporary massing and playful interpretations.

The care facility and land bridge will specialise in the needs of red squirrels/ pine martens. These will be created via combining many artificial timber modules to emulate a tree. A similar process is followed for the bridge where may modules are combined to make a mass that spans across the M4.

Overall, the proposal aims to revive traditional building materials to create a proposal reminiscent of historic structures while also containing playful contemporary interpretations.

Skating Circus

A skating support facility focused on rich Russian traditional patterns. Strong red and white color palette to further emphasize the Russian theme.

Floral patterns have been used both as structural panels on the barge as well as to serve as perforations for lighting to pass through. Internal Facades on the skating support facility act as dividing spaces with rich traditional Russian bas-reliefs giving a tactile feeling to these transition spaces.

The exterior facades also contain bas-reliefs but instead depict the narrative of the whole circus. This informs passers-by of the nature of the building as its purpose.
