Strength of the Spine
This design focuses on creating spaces for user interaction for the children at the local PGL center, while also creating natural environments for the animals in care to live and recover in. These spaces are designed to mimic their usual surroundings so that it feels somewhat natural. The layout of the site follows a radial form with different aspects happening in each segment surrounding the center building. Four separate bridges lead to the site through these segments and converge under the building leading animals towards the underground habitat designed and maintained to be used as a hibernation room. These bridges are placed in a way to connect to surrounding habitats while also creating safe passage across the busy nearby roads.
The endangered species living within this facility will be specifically underweight hedgehogs as a news article in 2020, reported that there was a large spike in the number of underweight hedgehogs being brought in around Swindon.

Cirque de la Symphonie
The aim was to focus on the views of the surrounding architecture of the city Auxerre while also contrasting between traditional and modern in the performance. The act performed is conducted by the ‘strongmen’ who use physical strength while suspended to hold each other up. During the performance they are spray painted gold to mimic the appearance of statues, so within the design of the boat performance, elements of this have been included such as the high wire appearing to be suspended by two statues. In contrast to this traditional style, the tensegrity seating and the facility have been designed in a modern style to counter this in a very noticeable way. The facility includes viewing areas on the roof of the building allowing for multiple boats to be viewed at once. These spaces are designed and shaped to also guide the user’s eyes to the surrounding historic buildings such as the nearby Cathedral and notable church.
