The Wildlife Hub

The Wildlife Hub sits at the center of a network of habitat connections both existing and newly created. At the project site, there are two main areas of orchards, underplanted with wildflower meadows, that produce apples to be turned into cider and sold on-site. Within the orchard, there are several beehives belonging to the local beekeeping group who also host meetings and demonstrations in the building. The project is also breeding endangered water voles to be taken to the nearby River Lambourn for release. The animal bridge that connects habitats on both sides of the M4 will allow greater movement of animals and prevent injuries from crossing. Any wildlife that is injured in the local area can also be bought to the site to be treated in the respite care facility.

Cirque Medrano

Cirque Medrano is a historic French circus that was originally founded in the Montmartre district of Paris in the late 1800s. The circus has evolved throughout its long history from operating in a permanent building to touring in a big top. This project proposes the latest evolution of the circus as it tours the French canal system with a series of barges performing high wire acts onboard. After the success of the touring barges, a support facility is set up as a place to run the operation from, for performers to stay and train as well as to host ‘on land’ performances. The support facility is a series of modules on stilts that can be disconnected and then lowered into the hold of the barges so that they can be transported and set up in different locations in the future.
