SUPPORTING MODULE

VISUALISATION AND COMMUNICATION

AA2VCC - Digital Media

This module draws on and extends the skills acquired through the previous in a series of three related modules on visualisation and communication of architectural design. The module focusses on the combination of analogue and digital media as means for developing, exploring, visualising, analysing and communicating the appearance and experience of architectural design. Through a mixture of lecture based presentations and tutorials including extensive hands-on activity, the module focusses on both the application of a range of representational skills and on developing conceptual understanding around their use. Drawing on a close connection with other modules including the studio, skills and knowledge developed through this module may be taken forward in project based work in other modules across the curriculum and in future practice.

Students were each assigned a precedent (a house) and were asked to develop their own vocabulary of communication to represent the project in a variety of formats. Crucially the act of combining tools and working in different media was the emphasis of the module agenda.
